Sermon Series: Jesus in Relation to God
Scripture: Colossians 1:3-23
Icons: Graphic representations of a program or file Εικον: exactly reflects its source
Paul tells the Colossians that Jesus is the image (Greek: eikon) of the invisible God. The creative and redemptive work of God is manifest through Jesus, by his blood through the cross. Just as computer icons give us access to a useful program, Jesus is the icon that gives us access to God. However, users beware. There are deceitful people who create fake icons that appear real but take you to a malicious program only to take from you. The ability to know the difference is through the guiding of the spirit giving us discernment. What we click on can be harmful, neutral, or beneficial to our transformation into the image (icon of Jesus) for the world.
