On Sunday, October 14th, the fami
ly at Southside shared in an opportunity to honor our ministers, Jeff Hill and Kevin Morrill. We took the time on this “Minister Appreciation Day” to pray for them, shower them with cards and gifts and to share in sweet fellowship together.
We aspire as David did to love the word of God – every part. And the word says: “We ask you, brothers, to respect those who labor among you and are over you in the Lord and admonish you, and to esteem them very highly in love because of their work” (1 Thessalonians 5:12-13). From an article in Relevant magazine, October 2017, the writer reminds us: “Pastors have a unique and painful opportunity to be invited into the disasters of people’s lives—funerals, hospice bedsides, broken marriages and relapsing addictions. Most pastors are honored to be included in the most sacred and painful moments of people’s lives.” Not to mention all of the hours of teaching, organizing and coordinating that they do. Let’s remember to make appreciation for our ministers a year-round exercise!
