Scripture Reading: Ecclesiastes 3:1-8
My first job was at a Louisiana grocery store, and occasionally the following song would play on the store radio: The Byrds – Turn, Turn, Turn with Ecclesiastes Subtitles – YouTube. If you listen to the lyrics, you’ll note that they are heavily inspired by the sermon text, Ecclesiastes 3:1-8.
All of us go through seasons; some are mourning; some are dancing; some are tearing down; some are building up, etc. Much of what we experience is outside our control. Do we ask for situations of mourning? Do we choose to be born? Do we want to die? Dare we have hope in such a hebel world? (May I suggest typing “hebel in Ecclesiastes” in a search engine and pondering what you discover.)
