Sermon Series: Jesus in Relation to Humanity
Scripture: Isiah 61:1-11
In culminating this series of sermons regarding the relationship between the father and Jesus, I transition to the relationship of Jesus with humanity. This bridging sermon is intended to help us embrace, not only that Jesus is the exact image of the father for our reclamation but also to inspire in us the desire to “be for the world what Jesus is for us”. (N.T. Wright) Isaiah not only identifies the Messianic hope and vocation of God’s servant but allows us to understand that we too are anointed into the kingdom and part of his kingdom building project. What a glorious God, taking wretches and transform them into warriors in the defeat of Satan’s kingdom of destruction so that the kingdom of light can shine.
