Scripture: 1 John 2:28 – 3:10
Speaker: Jeff Hill:
Sanctification; being set apart as holy by God for a holy purpose. Modernity sought to extinguish mystery for certainty to bring a sense of control and relieve the anxiety due to the mystery. People often desire clear cut definition and measures in determining their standing before others and God. Scripture indicates there is a point in time when God’s view of people changes from sinner to sacred. A struggle often ensues in understanding God’s ability to identify them as holy while they still wrestling with temptation and sin. It is especially challenging when some scripture, like our text this week, seems to eliminate grace. We will explore this mystery while seeking to embrace God’s certainty.
