We are quick to determine if something is in our best interest or if it isn’t. How accurate are we really? How do you determine if something is to be welcomed and cherished or repulsed and detested? We spend much energy striving to minimize detriments while maximizing assets, as we perceive them. Patrick’s immensely encouraging, yet challenging lesson last week exposes the most overlooked and often quiet entity in determining something to be a blessing or a curse, the will of God. This week’s journey toward the Promised Land finds the people of God entering the land of Moab. The prophet Balaam finds himself a pawn caught between the earthly desire of Balak, king of Moab to curse Israel and the eternal will of God to bless His people.
