The annual Mother and Daughter Banquet is planned for Friday May 12, 6:00 p.m. with the theme “Once Upon an Apron”. Please sign up if you plan to attend since the food is being catered and an exact number is required. All women are invited. Even if you aren’t a mother, you are someone’s daughter. Payment is to Southside Church ($12 women, $6 age 6 to 12, free under 6).
An old fashioned Tea Party for the Ladies is planned for Saturday, May 20, 2:00 pm. Signing up on the bulletin board is necessary. Cost is $5.00 for adults and $3.00 under 12 years.
The annual Southside Picnic is planned for Sunday June 4 at area 2 along the Root River Parkway.
Club 55 is sponsoring a Bible and water hand-out for those passing by Saturday June 10. This is open to everyone. If you have a little used Bible in good condition, please consider donating it to this effort. Please sign up if you can help pass these out.
Vacation Bible School is planned for June 19, 20, and 21. Topics for each night: Compassion, Forgiveness and Grace. An adult class is also scheduled. Wednesday night after class we’ll share a meal. Invite friends, family, and neighbors to come join us for VBS. If you would like to assist in any way or have questions see Kevin Morrill.
Club 55 is hosting a Picnic On The Farm for everyone in the congregation, Monday July 3 (rain date July 4) at Scot and Shirley Cerka’s place in Burlington.
The area-wide Church Of Christ picnic is planned for Saturday August 12.
Club 55 members are invited to a picnic at the home of Cliff and Sandie Copass, Saturday, August 19.
Club 55 is sponsoring a “Trip to Albania” Saturday, September 23 through the eyes of a missionary family at Southside. Kevin and Allison Morrill, are hosting.
Sandie Copass is organizing a group outing to the Fireside Theatre for December 9. Cost is $67.95 per person and includes dinner. A sign-up sheet is to be posted outside the coat room for those who wish to attend. After signing up, please see Sandie to make your down payment.
Meals are needed for the Zinkgraf family (4 people) the weekend after Lindy has surgery (May 13 and 14). If you can help, please contact Jean Jensen.
Karen Van Handel is looking into AED/CPR training at Southside through the American Heart Association. A possible date is Sunday June 11 for 3 hours in the afternoon. Cost is $45. Please let Karen know today if you are interested.
The weekly Ladies’ Bible Class meets on Thursdays at the building starting at 10:00 a.m. looking at the book of Nehemiah.
A 6:00 a.m. Tuesday early morning Weekly Men’s Study is scheduled at the Church building.
A Men’s Fellowship and Study Group meets on the first Tuesday of each month at the building at 6:30 p.m. A meal preceeds the study. Please see Dan Giombi for details.
The Christian Workers’ Meeting is planned for the third Tuesday of each month, 9:00 a.m.
We have an attended nursery for small children during morning worship periods in room 2. We also have a training room at the rear of the auditorium where parents can stay with their little ones while worshiping.
A children’s worship is scheduled to begin near the start of the worship lesson time. Children’s Worship is intended to provide a time of worship for children age 3 thru Grade 3 and to encourage families with children. Everyone is asked to begin worship in the auditorium (adults and children). Parents should accompany their smaller children to the basement as well as children who have not attended before. Before you return upstairs, be sure to indicate to the people at the door if you would prefer us to keep your young person till you return to get them or if it is alright to let them go after the adult worship is dismissed.

The Library is open after classes and the worship period. Don’t forget to return any overdue books to the library. There is a book return box located in the entry way next to the picture board.

Christine Saunders eardrum ruptured and she is experiencing a hearing loss. She asks for our prayers for the ear to heal and the hearing to return since she is deaf in her other ear.
Bruce and Kathryn Konves ask for continued prayer for Kathryn’s parent’s salvation – especially her dad. He was told he should be in hospice (short time left).

Vilma Bivens would like to thank the church for our prayers during this time of Bill’s passing. The funeral for Bill Bivens was April 15. He is survived by wife Vilma, children Ariana and Robert, brothers Robert, and Thomas, sisters Lori, and Ruby, as well as nieces and nephews.
