This week

Evening worship is planned for 6:00 p.m. today with the subject Divine Conspiracy.

It is time to update the attendance directory.  A markup copy has been posted near the office for your corrections.

Jacob Dassah plans to be here to promote his church work in Ghana on Saturday August 26 from 10 to noon.

The signup period for the Fireside dinner theater production of Miracle on 34th Street is ending soon.  If you wish to attend, please sign up outside the coatroom or see Sandie Copass.

Special Events

Bruce and Karen Williams are planning a chili dump at their home on Friday September 8 starting at 6 p.m.  Bring chili to share.  Crockpots and fixings are provided.

Club 55 is sponsoring a “Trip to Albania” Saturday, September 23 1:00 p.m., through the eyes of a missionary family at Southside.  Please wear red and black.  Kevin and Allison Morrill, are hosting.

The next church family meeting is planned for September 24 at 1:00 p.m.  Please bring sandwiches and salads for a light potluck lunch after worship.

The annual Midwest Preachers Retreat is planned for September 25-27 at WCYC with the theme “Redigging the Wells”.  Anyone is welcome to attend, (not just preachers).  The keynote speaker is Ken Curkowski, from Abilene Christian University, who plans to speak on “Corinth and Paul’s Theology” focusing on I Corinthians.

Packing shoes for Jesus is planned for Saturday October 14 as we send collected shoes to Africa.  For ages 12 and up.

Trunk or Treat is planned for October 28.

Club 55 is planning a “Christmas around the World” party on Saturday, December 2.

Sandie Copass is organizing a group outing to the Fireside Theatre for December 9.  Cost is $67.95 per person and includes dinner.  A sign-up sheet is to be posted outside the coat room for those who wish to attend.  After signing up, please see Sandie to make your down payment.

Regular Events

A time of prayer is planned for the second Tuesday of each month at the building, 7:00 p.m.

Juan Santana’s stretching and strength training class is scheduled to resume Monday September 11 at 6:00 p.m. for about an hour.

A 6:00 a.m. Tuesday early morning Weekly Men’s Study is scheduled at the Church building.


We are starting a gently used shoe drive for African needy next week.  There is a collection box in the foyer.  Funds for shipping are also needed.  See Jennifier Koepke for details.


Free CD’s of the Sunday morning sermons are available from Joel Ribar.  Be sure to specify the date desired.  MP3 copies of sermons are also available at the church web site.

The Library is open after classes and the worship period.  Don’t forget to return any overdue books to the library.  There is a book return box located in the entry way next to the picture board.

Group leaders; please contact the church office to update your current studies on the information Board.

If you have wonderful news to share about a newly engaged couple or an expectant mother, etc., please let Brenda Kosobucki know so they can plan a shower for them.

When planning events, don’t forget to check the calendar in the back hallway by room 9 for conflicts and enter your own events.  This is for events that involve use of the building and/or for a majority of the congregation.

Southside has an email list that is used to send congregational news to those subscribed.  Please join us by emailing
from the email account you wish to receive at and stay up to date with everything happening at Southside.  This automated mail list is used for church related matters such as general announcements, prayer requests, the bulletin, and other items of interest to the congregation.  Please see Craig Anderson ( for details.

We have an attended nursery for small children during morning worship periods in room 2.  We also have a training room at the rear of the auditorium where parents can stay with their little ones while worshipping.

A children’s worship is scheduled to begin near the start of the worship lesson time.  Children’s Worship is intended to provide a time of worship for children age 3 thru Grade 3 and to encourage families with children.  Everyone is asked to begin worship in the auditorium (adults and children).  Parents should accompany their smaller children to the basement as well as children who have not attended before.  Before you return upstairs, be sure to indicate to the people at the door if you would prefer us to keep your young person till you return to get them or if it is alright to let them go after the adult worship is dismissed.

Prayer Requests

Dale Nelson’s (minister at Fond Du Lac) wife Sandra had a heart attack and was treated at St Luke’s Hospital in Milwaukee.

Kathy’s Lynn’s Homer Gobel passed away in Minnesota.  Please keep the family in your prayers.

Katie Dahm’s friend, Angie, passed away after heart surgery.  She asks for prayers for peace for Angie’s fiancé, Jim and her family.

Jerry Seidner’s surgery for a blood clot was not successful.  The doctor’s plan to try again in a couple of weeks.

Vicky McCormick is recovering at home from her kidney transplant.

Tony Anguiano was scheduled to have cataract surgery August 16.

Vilma Bivens was planning knee surgery August 21.

Jim Nichols requests our prayers for his brother Dan, for continued recovery and strength..

Rodney and Andrea ask for prayers for safe travel for their daughter, Adrienne Maybin, as she returns for a short time prior to transitioning to another country with the Peace Corps.

Andrea Maybin says, “Thank you for your prayers. I haven’t heard from Steven for two weeks. Please continue to pray for me.”

John Dickson says, “I pray for God’s continued blessing on me and my family. I covet the prayers of my brothers and sisters in Christ. Pray I can be the man God wants me to be.”

Juanita Hernandez asks prayers for safe travel for her son and his family who are vacationing in Florida.  She also asks for prayers for unity within the family.

Doris Wihowski no longer needs to sell her house, but is now looking for someone compatible to rent a room in her house.

The hip replacement surgery for Marcos Alicea was re-scheduled August 15 but has been postponed a second time.

Mary Anguiano and her daughter, Ladi, ask for prayers for their friend, Myra, who was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer.  She is a young mother of twins.

Holly Huellemeir, is back at Ohio State to resume her classes.  She says, “Thank you for all you’ve done.”

Patti Schultz asks for our continued prayers for her lungs, for her husband to come to church and for her daughter’s health.  She also asks for prayers for her, that she will follow Jesus always.

Sandra Ferry requests prayers for 12 year old Quinn Lisak who has leukemia.

Troy Jensen’s father Jim has ongoing health issues and lung cancer.

Others with health issues include: Shirley Arnott, and Diane Santana.
