This week

Praise and Palate is planned for 6:00 p.m. this evening.

A time of prayer is planned for the second Tuesday of each month at the building, 7:00 p.m.

Club 55 is planning to sponsor Indoor Golf for teens age 10 and up, and families on Saturday April 14, starting at 1:00 p.m. at the building.  Help is needed for setup and cleanup.  Please sign up if you plan to attend.

Women of Faith at Northtown Church is holding a meeting on April 14 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Special Events

The annual Men’s Retreat is planned for April 20-21 at Camp Matawa.  Please sign up if you plan to attend.

South Beloit Church of Christ is planning a men’s breakfast and ladies Bible class on Saturday April 21 at 8:30 a.m.

A WCYC work day is planned for Saturday April 28.

Club 55 is planning a Hunger Taskforce Stock Box filling, 9 to noon on Saturday May 5.  Anyone over age 12 is invited to help.  Please sign up if you plan to help.  Shoes covering your feet are required.

The Mother-Daughter Banquet is planned for Friday May 11 at 6 p.m.  The theme is “At Rainbows End – Standing on the Promises”.  Cost is $12 adult, $6 child, free under 5 years.  Please sign up.

A WCYC work day is planned for Saturday May 19.

A disc golf outing is planned for Saturday June 2, 10:00 a.m. at Arthur Abendshcein Park, 980 E. Drexel.  See the bulletin board for details.

Picnic area 3 on the Root River Parkway is reserved for Sunday, June 3 for the Annual Southside Family Picnic.  Someone is still needed to organize the picnic.  Please see the Shusters if you are interested.

Youth Announcements

Teens/preteens (age 10 and up) and your friends:  Club 55 is making you a very unique event, Indoor Mini-Golf!  Come to the building at 1 p.m., Saturday, April 14 and literally “have a ball!”  (Parents, please make this a priority if you can – there’s a ton of work involved, and you won’t want them to miss this one!)

WCYC Youth Rally – Friday April 20 to Sunday April 22.


An organization in the greater Milwaukee is collecting feminine hygiene products for women in area homeless shelters.  A donation box is in the foyer.

The children’s ministry is in need of teachers, assistants and subs.  A strong and well supported Children’s ministry is vital to the health of any church, so please consider helping.  No previous experience is necessary.  If interested, talk to Kevin Morrill or Ken Koch.

Regular Events

A time of prayer is planned for the second Tuesday of each month at the building, 7:00 p.m.

Juan Santana is offering a stretching and strength training class every Monday at 6:00 p.m. for about an hour.  You will need comfortable clothes and a mat.

The weekly Ladies’ Bible Class meets on Thursdays at the building starting at 10:00 a.m. looking at the book of Isaiah.

A 6:00 a.m. Tuesday early morning Weekly Men’s Study is scheduled at the Church building.  The book of Isaiah is being started.

The First Tuesday Men’s Fellowship and Study Group is planned for the first Tuesday of each month at the building at 6:30 p.m. for a meal preceding the study.  Please see Dan Giombi for details.

The Christian Workers’ Meeting is planned for the third Tuesday of each month, 9:00 a.m.


We have an attended nursery for small children during morning worship periods in room 2.  We also have a training room at the rear of the auditorium where parents can stay with their little ones while worshiping.

Free CD’s of the Sunday morning sermons are available from Joel Ribar.  Be sure to specify the date desired.  MP3 copies of sermons are also available at the church web site.

The Library is open after classes and the worship period.  Don’t forget to return any overdue books to the library.

A children’s worship is scheduled to begin near the start of the worship lesson time.  Children’s Worship is intended to provide a time of worship for children age 3 thru Grade 3 and to encourage families with children.

Library Book Review

Are you & your spouse ready to take your relationship to the next level?  “Empowering Couples – Building on Your Strengths,” by David and Amy Olson, will help you build on your strengths and empower your relationship to be more mutually satisfying.  This workbook was built with over 20 years of research & clinical work and is based on the Prepare/Enrich Program.  You & your partner complete six exercises that are designed to identify strengths, build communication skills, develop conflict resolution skills and more.  Find this book in the Family Life – Marriage Enrichment section of the library.

Prayer Requests

Jean Krause has been hospitalized for a variety of issues.  No calls or visitors, but Annette Wagner will gladly take in your cards.

Jettie Carr is still recovering from her wrist injury.

The Giombi’s ask prayers for their neighbor Dolores, to make wise decisions concerning her future health and living situation.

Bryan Frost‘s neck surgery went very well.  It’s uncertain how long it will take for the numbness to get better since it could take up to a year for the spinal damage to heal.

Jamal Hami reports that his daughter, Hiba, is nearly recovered.

Toni Bully’s friend’s husband, Randall, has a clear report now.

Eric Jones’ step-father is in the hospital.  Eric and Tasha ask prayers for him and for Eric’s sister who is having a hard time.

Rodney and Andrea Maybin thank God for all His blessings. Amen.

John and Elizabeth thank the Lord for their wonderful family at Southside.  They also request prayers for their friend, Allen, who lost his wife to cancer.  He also lost his daughter to cancer within the last two years.

Juan’s prayer, “Lord, I am praying for others more than myself. Forgive this servant of yours if I am not.”

Toni Bully’s new job fell through, so she is still looking.

Let us all unite in prayer for our youth and young adults that they will have strength to make Godly choices as they are faced with challenges each day.

The 37 year old wife of Annette Wagner’s nephew Andy died recently from cystic fibrosis.  They have a 15-year-old son Aidan.  Please lift this young family in prayer during this very difficult time.

Joel’s cousin, Richard Ribar has cancer of the bones, lungs and prostate.  Please pray for Richard and his family.

Roger and Patti Young ask for prayers for their oldest son Troy, who is suffering with back problems.

Mary Brown requests prayers for her sister’s brother-in-law Steve, who is dealing with heart surgery, cancer, chemo and kidney dialysis.

Juanita Hernandez asks prayers for her nephew Joey, who is planning surgery for prostate cancer April 9. She asks that we continue to pray for her eye health.

Shirley Arnott is back home.

Brad Stanger requests our prayers for Jeff and Lynn Weatherly who have been fighting flu, bronchitis, injuries from a fall and diabetes.

Zoe Alicea asks for prayers for her step-son in his new life journey.

Jim and Lori Nichols suggest praying for all the families and people that have been touched by Southside whether they worship elsewhere, moved away or especially if they have fallen away.

Lindy Zinkgraf requests prayers for her sister Gina and her son Bronson.  She is a single mom who deals with stress and health issues.  Her faith is weak.  Lindy hopes that she can be an encouragement and help to them both.

Requests from two of Otto Mageland’s bible correspondence course takers in the Davis Correctional Facility in Oklahoma.  Francisco Cruz: “I would like somebody to pray for my marriage that God will do something – if it is done or I will go back with my wife”.  Peter Gloria: “Please pray that I might make parole.  I go up in September of 2018.  I currently have a life sentence with parole.”

Gregg Steeven’s infant great niece, Haeva (hay’-va) is slowly recovering from multiple infections.  Please pray for her recovery.

Vicky McCormick would like to thank everyone for the prayers and support during her kidney transplant.  The kidney is working well.

Jim Nichols brother Mike is planning radiation treatments for low level cancer.

Verna Gillespie asks the church to pray for her.  If it is the Lord’s will, she will be moving to Murfreesboro, TN April 20.
